“Respect the Time” explores the deep connection that exists between time and cultural history. A young girl with her hands folded in a gesture of prayer or reverence, representing a profound regard for customs and values passed down through the centuries, is at the centre of this piece. Her elaborate gold hair and ear jewellery, together with her traditional dress with its red accents and white shawl, all showcase the depth of her cultural identity.
The abstract clock behind her highlights the cyclical aspect of time with its partially covered face and Roman numerals XII and VI. This clock represents a timeless world where the past, present, and future intersect. It blends perfectly into the textured background of gold and earthy tones. We observe a gap in time that indicates our future lives will be worse if we are unaware of the present. We must honour the past and present if we hope to have a successful future.
My goal in creating this artwork is to tell a story about how time and culture are intertwined. The earthy and gold hues in the backdrop create a textured effect that adds warmth and depth to the painting’s reflecting ambiance. A dynamic visual experience is produced by the way light and shadow interacts, directing the viewer’s attention to the main figures and minute details.
A meditation on the value and transience of time, “Respect the Time” It reminds us all to treasure the moments we have by urging viewers to value their ancestry and the legacies that have shaped their identities. This artwork serves as both a sobering reminder of the universal issue of time’s passage and its effects on our lives as well as a visual representation of it.
